Default almost 3 wks post op still in pain

Tomorrow will be 3 wks since I had my one level adr at c5-c6. I ended up in the hospital for 6 days since I developed a pnemonia. Im still in a lot of pain with pain radiating to my left arm with a heaviness in it. My left hand goes numb with pins and needles off and on. The incision is still pretty swollen. They want me to keep the brace on one more wk and try to stay close to home. Not sure whats normal whats not wondering when others started driving and being functional post op Im quite confused. Didnt think things would be this bad.

Unhappy

Lisa, I am so sorry. Do you have one doctor now who is overseeing all your care? Have you determined what kind of pneumonia, and what caused it? How is it being treated?

Default dr care

I did go back for a check up at Delemarter's office with his P.A. Plus I go to my pain dr monthly. She sees less reflex and sensation in my left arm and thinks I might need an MRI. Im kind of giving it more time to see if it gets better but by end of night Im in awful pain.

I had pnemonia right after surgery. I had trouble breathing so took an xray and fluid in one lung. So they kept me in for a few days with iv antibiotics. I took the rest of antibiotics at home so im fine on that end.

Just nervous cuz Im now having nerve pain and my arm hurts-just dont know if its normal or not.

Smile post op pain

Lisa
I am 6 weeks post op for a 2 lever lumbar Adr but I have leg numbness and pain but it is different from pre op. I am guessing it is normal because my surgeon said it will lessen over time and that it is still to early to evaluate my back. So hang in there and take it all nice and easy.
Good luck
Jeff

Lisa, I am so sorry to hear that. I still need to put my post recovery out there, but I did have quite bad pain when I woke up from surgery. It took a good week for it to decrease and then it slowly improved. I had a flare up when I went back to work and started driving, which scared me so much, and I had the nerve issues that I had had before surgery. Luckily I'm feeling better and better each day, and the nerve stuff has gotten better.

It is not an easy road, but hang in there. Keep up with the PT, and make sure you don't do too much. I didn't start driving for about 6 weeks after, and the first week was way scary.
