Hello all!
I'm getting ready to schedule surgery with Dr. Bertagnoli in Straubing. I got an e-mail last Sunday that they will take me. Now I am just waiting to get a date..have probably been checking my e-mail a hundred times daily the last days, guess I am a bit impatient..
How long did you have to wait to get the actual date for the operation?

Sabrine,

It took around 1-2 weeks to give me open dates for surgery. After viewing the open dates, I would then figure out travel & hotel arrangements that would work out best with one of them. In my case, I was schedueled for surgery around 2-3 months ahead of time. However, I made arrangements in Vienna - so that could have made a difference in surgery dates.

Hang in there Sabrine - your surgery day will be here before you know it.

Sabrine,

I can relate. It seems like it takes forever to get a response from Dr. Fenk-Mayer. I'm scheduled for surgery on March 4th in Bogen Germany. Once I was accepted as a patient I think I waited at least 2-3 weeks before getting a date. When I finally got a date, it was too soon for me to make arrangements to go so I suggested a date. 2-3 weeks later, they got back to me accepting the date. So, it just takes time, you just have to be a bit patient.

Sabine,
I was given a date of Jan 14 right before Christmas. Dr Fenk-Mayer is extremely busy but usually gets back on weekends. Hang in there!!!Once you get over there, the care from drs and nurses is fantastic.

Sabrine,
I was given a January 12th date right before Christmas. We had been sending stuff back and forth since September. I was quite frustrated at how long it took, but in my case I was begging for an earlier date that would fit better with my school schedule than the February date I had been given and they had to work out a time for me.
Don't be surprised if it is Bogen instead of Straubing. I was first told Vienna and then Straubing, but when the final date came down, it was Bogen. That was okay, though, because as Ann said, the doctors and nurses and staff were great! The anaestesiologist is a hoot. He sat in our room and told us of all the great sights to go visit when I got out of the hospital. I was able to speak to Dr. Fenk-Mayer by telephone. She is usually in her office on Fridays. Hang in there. It will happen.
