I am new here and I hope this gets posted right. I am having fusion of L2,3 and 3,4 because of degenerative scoliosis and a spondy. Because of so much instability ADR is not an option. I was hoping somebody here will know if later I have any adjacent segment problems (God forbid) will any Dr. do ADR next to the fusion? If you know of any please give names. The Dr. who is doing the fusion is doing a plif minimally invasive. His name is Jed Weber in Florida. One other thing I wondered is does anyone out there have hip popping along with there spine problems? Feel free to email or post.

Dr. Bertagnoli in Germany (multiple references to him in many threads here) does use a mix of fusion and ADR. There are probably others that I don't know of (this is Annapurna's husband and I'm the spine dummy of the family) but I know he does.

With the hip popping, is it hip or SI joint concerns?

Hi and welcome to the board. I am a patient of Dr. Bertagnoli and had 2 ADR's and a fusion done in between all at once in one surgery. Did you send you films to mulitple doctors for options? I also am a patient of Dr. Yue of Yale New Haven in Connecticut. I would recommend at least sending your films to them for their opinions before having a two level fusion, just my opinion. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me.

Thanks for all the replies. I just got a surg date of Jan 30. For Doug and Macleger, the 2 who had ADR in US: Do you think or would you ask your surgeons if they would possibly perform ADR next to a "former fused section" or is there some law against that in our country?

I think it also has to do with whether the insurance will approve the ADR next to an adjacent fused site. Possibly yes at this point if it's just one level...

My OSS wants to do a fusion at L5S1 and Charite at L4 if I'm still a 2 level candidate. I have to jump thru WC hoops so and I guess right now a one level ADR is all that is FDA approved even if surgeons are doing multiple levels with the FDA approved implant...

I'm also new to this sight. Just wondering who is doing your surgery in FL. I checked out one group of seeming miracle workers who did a lot of advertising there with an attorney friend of mine, and he advised me not to go with them because of a lot of legal problems they were facing.
