I leave today for Germany and surgery with Dr Zeegers and the Activ L at L4/5. I just want to thank all who participate on this site and who have taken the time and trouble to share their views/insecurities/knowledge/expertise. It has been invaluable to me and much appreciated. I still don't know whether I am doing the right thing but I guess that is the nature of the beast. Particular thanks to Alistair and Harrison for their support. I will of course report back as soon as possible. Thanks. William.

Hi William:
Good luck on your upcoming surgery with Dr. Zeegers. From everything I have read he is one of if not the best surgeon out there.

I had Prodisc surgery at L4/L5 in February and so far I am progressing well. I had hoped to get the Maverick disc in the United States but for some reason the FDA approval is taking a very long time. I considered going to Germany as well but financially I wasn't able to. Everything I have heard about the Active-L so far has been very positive--I hope it turns out great for you. Good luck and best wishes for a very successful surgery!

William,
Our thoughts are with you. And yes, I believe that many of us were second guessing ourselves all the way to the anesthesia. I was so thankful when another patient that I knew, called me and stopped by my hospital room in Germany the day of surgery. We were both thinking and feeling the same way that you are. As my fellow spiney told me in Germany -

May the force be with you!

July 31, 2006 Surgery successfully completed Prodisc-C C5/C6 on in Straubing, Germany by Dr. Bertagnoli. Able to work full time since 1 month post op, but some pain remains.
10/2008 3 surgeons confirm C6/C7 needs ADR and always has.
Has anyone had a second ADR surgery on an adjacent level?

Hi William, you're off to Germany and to one of the top surgeons in this field. You will be in the best of care. And, yet still, like others have already said, there can be lurking doubts and fears up to the end. Trust your gut. You didn't make this decision over night, that's for sure. And please keep us posted after surgery, so we will know how best to help you. Good luck!
