Fresh Fig,
Thank you for posting. I'm sorry that the Boniva caused you those side effects and these last for 3 months. I was worried about side effects lasting 3 months. Did it cause you stomach problems at all? My doctor refuses to write an order for ocntinued Forteo and I'm at the end of my rope with this. I can't take meds that cause my stomach problems especially since I need treatment indefinitely. I guess I'll have to challenge this doctor or go find another one. The Forteo works. I hope you can get switched back to Forteo easily and your vision condition isn't permanent.

Spotty-thank you for the kind words.

Why won't your doctor write a presecription to continue the Forteo? My doctor, Stuart Silverman, in Beverly Hills, Ca. is a top doctor and a osteo specialist. He is the one who told me that Forteo can be continued after 2 years.

The Boniva did not bother my stomach at all. Since it is given IV it gets directly into the system. Will your doctor give you the IV Bomiva?

If you took Fosamax and only had stomach problems then Boniva would probably be fine for you since they are the same class of drug.

Seems like your options are IV Boniva or continue Forteo. Can you find some literature to give to your doctor about continuing Forteo or see another doctor?

I hope that you can resolve this quickly. I know it's so frustrating when you're trying to be proactive and preserve what you have and it's a battle against a doctor. Doesn't make sense!

Best wishes!

Fresh Fig,
All the doctor says is that the risk of continuing Forteo is too high and that I can't continue it. Can you give me the contact information for your doctor's office. Do you think your doctor might have a study about patients continuing on past 2 years?I'm gong to get a second opinion and find a doctor that will help me.

I only took 3 fosamax pills and immediately developed stomach problems that went away after the pills wore off. I didn't experience any other side effect but was only on it for 3 weeks.
