To those that have had single or multiple level lumbar ADR or a hybrid with fusion and ADR:

Did everyone get noticably taller? This must be in the area of the surgery (lumbar levels.

I'm just wondering as I hear so many people say their pants are too short...

Was it new clothes time for all afterwards/lengthening of what you have???

Just one of the sillier questions that can be asked .. could almost do a poll on this one I guess~

Hi Maria,

When all is said and done, I probably gained 1/4 - 1/2 an inch. It seemed more immediately following my surgery, but now I don't appear too much taller than my previous height. Considering I'm only 5'1", that makes a bit of a differnece, but certainly not enough for me to redo my wardrobe.

I "grew" 1-1/2 inches. There was no difference in my legs, but the extra stretch in my lumbar region helped lessen the old love handles a bit.
God Bless,
Jeff

Hi Maria,

I would say I’m back to my original high. It’s most apparent when I get on my road bike, last summer I could not reach the drops on the top of the brakes. But this year I have not trouble with my reach. I was custom fitted for this bike and did not make any changes last year just left it to gather dust. Laura grew visibly with her lumbar ADR, finally allowing me to win an argument that had gone on for a few years about how tall she was. I remembered her pre-DDD height and she had measured her severely degenerated height and accused me of making up my number.

When my surgeon measured me a few weeks ago I was 5"3. I used to be 5"4. He says I should be back to my original height after surgery in 2 weeks. This would be great if my hubby wasn't a shorty! Oh well, never mind, at least the kids take after my side of the family.

I grew almost a full inch. When I was younger and my back was in good shape, I was taller then my sister. After I had my car accident I was shorter, now I'm taller then her again which really pisses her off.

The height change depends on how bad your disc's are, mine was pretty bad, which is why I regained so much of my height. The first week after surgery it was strange kissing my boyfriend while standing b/c he was so used to leaning down a certain amount. lol :0) It's a fun suprise of the surgery!

I had the same thing. My surgeon said would really notice it because there was no disc left. I measured myself on the wall b4 my surgery, and after. The kids thought it was hilarious. I grew a whole inch. I needed a few more to catch up to my boys, one is 6'5" and the other is 6'3". lol

I have regained a full inch. Going through alterations on my pants...
Good thing my back is completely straight. Good posture.
