Question RE: paying for surgery

Just wonder what avenues people have taken to get the ADR surgery in Barcelona financed. I have only been working for 3 years and don't have enough in my 401K to cover entire cost of surgery. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Gibs,

I don't know the answer to your dilemma, but I tried and failed to get reimbursed for surgery in Barcelona. Your best chance is probably to show your insurance company the following (all of which are possible):

- Surgery with the M6 is proven by clinical methodology to be safe and effective
- Quiron hospital is a contracted care provider with your insurance company (at least it was with mine - BCBS-TX)
- MOST IMPORTANTLY that surgery in Barcelona will cost less than whatever treatment your insurance company is willing to cover

All of this must be shown BEFORE surgery. Even then the odds are not good. I did all three of thee above, but did it AFTER surgery.

Good luck, Jeff

I was lucky enough to have family to loan me the money. Paying them back for the next few years. Otherwise, I would have gotten a regular loan through a bank. I looked at it as the cost of a nice car... but a much better investment. It just really is hard to stomach spending that much on healthcare instead of something flashy no matter how you justify it. It's a decision I am forever grateful I made.
