All,
ABC is doing a special on back pain and it's treatments that will air May 22 - 24th on World News Tonight. They are filming my ADR surgery and interviewing me for a segment. http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif I'm going to try to mention ADR Support. You guys have been the best!

Tricia

That's cool!!!

I wonder if they are interested in any of us "Prodisc Poster Girls"???

Good luck with your surgery. I will be following closely.

Harrison 05-06-2006 05:39 AM

Tricia, thanks for the mention! I can't imagine how intense that would be -- knowing that your innards will be exposed to the world, while at the same time being so excited that you'll be getting a treatment that will hopefully get you your life back! That's a big deal!

Don't forget about the other resources on "other site" too regarding recovery:

Good luck to you Tricia...your surgery will be successful and you will do great on the interview. http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common.../icon_wink.gif

The camera crew left my apartment a little while ago. I think/hope the interview went well. I mentioned ADR Support, but don't know if it will make it on the air. :0) It was kinda embarrasing talking about myself like that.....They took a lot of shots of me walking around with my cane... I'm just praying they don't show my big butt on national television! lol.... I'll let you know when I know the exact date my part will air. The producer from ABC was very informed and seemed to know a lot about back pain and all the treatments, which was suprising. It sounds like they've done a lot of reasearch so I think the peice should be interesting. I'm trying to find out what the other segments focus on too.
Take Care,
T - 7 days....

Harrison 05-10-2006 06:59 AM

It won't be long now -- thanks for the update! Before you know it, "Mr. Cane" will be history!

Bugger!!!
We only get BBC world news not ABC world news down here in Oz. Will have to get what I can off their website. It's very exciting. I'm very interested in seeing what this Trendelenburg (sp?)position looks like where you are tipped down at the head for the surgery. Has your doctor mentioned he does this? Is it standard? Anyone Know?

Tricia,

I'm sure you did great and I hope someone will take pity on me and tape a copry of the show so I can see it later on.

Wishing you all the best and looking forward to following your recovery soon!

Good show Tricia. Had hoped it would be a longer segment, but it was informative. Great to see you smiling..............and dancing a little !!! Dr. Bitan seems like a very compassionate doctor. Will you be on the other 2 nights or not? I set the digital recorder thing to record the next two nights in case I forget about it. That is if I have the recorder thing figured out......never used it before. Best wishes to you for a full and speedy recovery !!!!!

Just saw Jeff's post with the World Newser link saying that tonight was the only night on ADR. Tomorrow night is on discetomy and fusion; and the third night is how to avoid surgery.

David 05-22-2006 06:23 PM

Nice job on your "segment" http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif

My parents and grandfather watched it, and had a bunch more questions to ask me.... but I think it definitely helped solidfy in their minds the "necesity" (not the word I am really looking for) of this surgery in many cases.

Hopefully, your recovery will go as well as your "dancing" showed! http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common.../icon_wink.gif

David

Texas-T 05-22-2006 06:45 PM

Thanks guys... it was such a big news night they cut the segment.... oh well... their putting Fusion and discetomy in one segment, so at least ADR got it's own!

Tim Johnson called me today and asked me to appear on Good Morning America on Thursday as well so they will air more of it then.

The interview lasted 1 hour so I was suprised at how short it was.... I'm glad they showed my dance though! LOL Most of my family and friends haven't seen me since the surgery as I'm still recovering in NY so they were thrilled to see the "old" Tricia. http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common.../icon_wink.gif

sahuaro 05-22-2006 06:52 PM

Congratulations to you on your successful surgery and television premiere! You've set the standard for post-ADR chic. And kudos to ABC for putting together a really informative segment. Wishing you continued, uneventful recovery.

Cool. I am presuming this Thursday morning? (5/25/2006)? I will set my dvr to record that as well.
