-   -   Using A Balance Ball In My Chair Is WONDERFUL (https://www.adrsupport.org/forums/showthread.php?t=5725)

I have a hard time sitting. I finally found a great way to sit in my chair at home. I use my balance ball to cushion my back while I sit. The trick is that I take my shirt off so that my skin sticks to the ball and it stretches my back out WHILE I SIT! I have a small balance ball now because I sit in a recliner. I used to sit on a small cot with the bigger balance ball behind me on the cot. If you have a balance ball, try this but remember to take your shirt off. (I actually do it naked sometimes because I like to put the ball on my lower back/butt) You may find that funny but it really works for me. Try it if you don't believe me...

I can't thank my Sweety enough for getting me this ball. Thanx Sweety!

Hi Eddie,
Using a balance ball properly is great for your spine and core stability, but you may have shared a bit too much information. http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common.../icon_razz.gif There are actual balance ball chairs as well.

I've been doing this for years at my computer table and it's so much more easy on my tailbone, however, I do have a tendancy to slouch after a while which isn't good for my spine either.
Keep the core muscles working for you and you should be OK...

I have a chair called the SWOPPER. It simulates usting an exersise ball, with out the bulk of the ball its self. Sitting in a normal chair or driving, I get realy bad pain radiating down my legs. When I sit in my swopper, I have NO PAIN in my legs and a 50% decrease in LBP. I use the swopper at work and LOVE it!!!

Note to self: Google Swopper...

ThanX!!!

[Edit]:

Looks painful, I would def. have to test this out first...
Please note that I do NOT sit on the ball but rather lean my back up against it.

This gal doesn't need a balance ball .. look at shoes, tho this position is nearly one of the exercises I have to do for core strength on balance ball..

it realy does look awkward, especialy looking at that picture. you realy do have to sit on it to be convinced. everyone at work thought I was out of my mind until they would sit on it, then they would instantly agree with me.
