Any correlation between injury and recovery time?

I'm wondering if there is a correlation between severity of problem pre-op and length of recovery post-op. I think it makes sense that people who have multiple levels done take longer to recover but what about single level?

Is there any recovery benefit from doing the surgery before the pain gets so bad that it's difficult to function?

Is there any tangible long-term benefit from having the surgery sooner instead of later?

Is there truly a shorter recovery time for ADR over ACDF in either Cervies or Lumbars?

Any thoughts or ideas on this?

Sometimes it takes awhile for the injury to catch up to you to increase the symptoms of pain and discomfort. I went one year after my accident with the dog before I found out how badly my shoulder was injured. I then had to have my clavicle repaired. I then waited another year before my back got so bad I had to start walking with a cane. I was hunched over like a little old man. I then had four level ADR surgery two years after the accident/injury took place.

Sometimes it is best to wait for the surgery to take place to see if the body will repair itself. Unless you are already at the point of no return. Only you can decide this.
