The costs were quoted to me by Mr Lam one of our top ADR surgeons who works at Guy's Hospital.
I thought this might be of interest to the USA members. I don't know if they could get their insurers to pay for the surgery. I know Mr Lam is 60 ADRs behind himself at the moment so he's a busy bloke. Please note this does not include your hotels etc He does implant The Pro Disk, the Charitee, And the Maverick All inclusive fees summarised below: 4 day hospital stay + implants + Surgeon fee + Anaesthetic fee + MRI/consultations x2 1) Single level 11,000 (US$19,250) 2) 2 level 15,000 (US$26,250) 3) Discograms 1200 (US$2100) Reimburse approx 750 per day for every early discharge. 90% of my patients go home on by 2 or 3. Also includes initial consultation and 2 post-op follow ups and in hospital physiotherapy. |
Alastair,
Does Mr.Lam do lumbar and cervical implants? thanks for posting this BTW~ |
He certainly does Lumbar - -not sure about Cervical - -- - He told me he is 60 implants behind, but if someone is faced with a fusion in the USA and no alternative he would accommodate them somehow.
I think he is a "Keynote speaker" at the Rio spine conference in 10 days He is in the FAQ`s (as is everyone) under UK Drs that do ADR and his contact details Best Alastair http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif |
Thanks Alastair. What about bill translation costs? http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif

ans,
You remind me of when I was in Sicily many years ago there was a sign on a shop door that said "English spoken, American Understood" -- - -lol http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif |
Alastair
Do you have any idea what the total length of stay would average in country? Also what type of costs for hotels on average? Thanks |
I have got to believe that the overall stay would be 10 to 14 days. The thinking behind this is to do with the wound, and decompression, on board an aeroplane. When I was in Munich there was some Dutch people who had brought patients by caravan up to Munich, they started their journey home almost immediately the patient was out of hospital.
Mr Lam carries out surgery in a private hospital away from the state system for private patients (of which any people entering the country for surgery would be private patients). I think you would have to do a bit of research for your hotel, I don't think he has any particular link with any particular hotel. Most hotels show their charges on the Web. it would be good to contact Mr Lam should you feel you want to go to the UK for your surgery. He is an extremely competent surgeon, with an excellent reputation. His contact details are in the FAQs under UK surgeons that do ADR You could come and wave at the Queen -- -- -- lol http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif |
