Has anyone read this book? I think I am going to buy it. Just wondering if it I have any "peer" reviewers? It sounds like an approach I would be interested in.

Pain Free: A Revolutionary Method for Stopping Chronic Pain (Paperback)
by Pete Egoscue (Author), Roger Gittines (Author)

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.com
Pete Egoscue learned a lot about pain when, as a Marine officer, he was wounded in Vietnam. He segued from patient to physical therapist, and now runs a famous clinic in San Diego, where he claims he's helped 95 percent of his patients cure chronic pain--including Jack Nicklaus and Charles Barkley, whose athletic careers he helped prolong. At the heart of his program are stretches and motion exercises to restore proper function to muscles and joints. His methods are often surprising and counterintuitive. For example, for foot pain, he suggests a series of hip exercises. In fact, this is one of the most startling books you'll read about the human organism. Egoscue has strong opinions about how modern life is changing the way our bodies function, reducing the tasks we must perform and thus reducing the functional range of motion of our muscles and joints. Fortunately, he offers movement exercises to restore what nature meant us to have. --This text refers to an out of print or unavailable edition of this title.

Don, did you buy the book? If so, how is it? Thanks.

No, sorry. One more thing on the list of things to do that is not getting done!

If it's not on a post-it, I forget it!

Don, I bought and read this book after my bicycle accident. It's actually a very good book, with some excellent principles behind it. I don't think it can solve every problem, but definitely worth reading, and seeing what fits for you and your unique situation. Let me know what you think of it if you decide to purchase it.

Good luck.

Thanks CindyLou,

It's been a crazy summer and of course I have been to the book store twice recently, but forget to look for this book. Just fitting in my aqua PT 3 times a week takes up about every spare minute for the week it seems.

Hope things are going well with you.

I finally bought this book three nights ago. I really like the authors approach to how the whole body is one functioning unit and problems in one area lead into future problems in others. I have seen that happen with me as parts get over or under used while I try to compensate for my back. Many of the hip, ankle, and knee excercises are the same or very close to the back exercises.

So, I recommend it to anyone with back problems, or any joint for that matter. Time will tell. I have done the back work out for the last 3 nights and I already think there is good going on. I wish I had this book 12 years ago (and had sense enough to follow it). And, it was only $16.

My son is an Occ. Therapist in NC and I may buy it for him.

I think that I may get this one!
