Looking for top doctors for L5-S1

I haven't been on the forum since 2008 when my partner had 3 level cervical adr with Dr. Delamarter at St.Johns. Dr. D is not practicing anymore and now I have multilevel DDD but the worst is at L5-S1.

My disc is pretty much gone and I have spinal stenosis at this level as well. I have pain in my back, front, abdomen and weakness in my legs. I'd like to get 2-3 looks at my MRI and xrays. Any Dr. recommendations are appreciated.

Oh my gosh, Laura, that went by so quickly! I hope we can help. What's the latest? Have you reached out to Texas Back or any of the larger clinics in the US?

Hi Laura,

I recently went through the research of doctors. I think there a quite a few good ones out there now. I ended up going to Texas Back with Dr Blumenthal. I had a hybrid ADR at 4/5 and Fusions at 5/1. I got consults from Dr Bertagnoli and Dr. Illerhaus in Germany and Dr. Clavel in Barcelona. The German Drs seem to be more aggressive if you have other disks that are failing - but maybe not producing pain. Dr. Clavel and Dr Blumenthal were conservative in my case. I was leaning toward Dr. Clavel but ended up not being able to go to Barcelona due to pain.

I am extremely happy I went to Dr. Blumenthal. The experience was top-notch. I am now right at the 5 month mark and 99% good as new. Life changing. I work out like I did before - weights, cardio, running, golfing. No limitations. I'm actually writing this from a vacation in Thailand. 17 hours of plane travel was not an issue. The result of Dr. Blumenthal for me was outstanding.

Happy to answer any questions. I wish you all the best!
