I have exhausted all my efforts with my insurance company (BCBS of MA)and have been denied coverage. I had surgery originally scheduled for 4/2005 and have had all tests.
MRI,Bone scan, discogram.....
I'm trying to find a cost effective solution and found this clinical trial.
I was wondering if anyone has any info on this particular trials or the doctors?

Pam,

Is everything paid for? I didn't see on their site where it was spelled out. The doctors experience is more important then the cost. Most studies still want you to pay. They may throw in the disc, but likely not the whole surgery. At least the fall back is ADR and not fusion.

I like their qoute

"Currently, fusion surgery or the implantation of the Charit artificial disc is the standard surgical treatment for chronic pain associated with degenerative disc disease of the lumbosacral spine."

Everyone who is fighting with their insurance should referance this site to clue their ins. in on what is the standards are today.

Do your research.

Hi Pam,
At least a couple of us on this forum have received the Kineflex disc in the Kineflex/Charite study. I am sending you an email.

I have an appt with Dr Richard Guyer at the Texas back institute on Nov 30th for an evaluation. From my initial call I was told that Dr.Guyer has performed 100's of ADR surgeries. I will find out more next week.
I am interested if anyone has feedback on Dr. Guyer?
Thanks for all your replies.

Well, how was your visit with TBI and Dr. Guyer? Are you in? I will have my ADR surgery there on this Thursday.

Dr. Guyer will be doing my surgery as well. I am in the Kineflex trial. My surgery will be Jan 19th. The surgery and hospital stay are paid for.
