whats the best fastest way to send films on cd and reports to pro-spine from usa?
thanks chuck

mike5139 05-14-2006 06:47 AM

patient-affairs@pro-spine.com,aapeludat@hotmail.com here are the emails for anita, the american coordinator and dr fenk mayer. these are the fastest way to email them

annapurna 05-14-2006 06:54 AM

If you have a picture or two, the emails will work. If you have a series of films, you could either use Mark Mitzner's service or use UPS, Fedex, or US Mail. They each have a super fast, trackable delivery service that will work overseas. It was $40-70 to get things overseas several years ago.

A few more tips.

Fed Ex is probably the way to go, but do not insure the package (or use the an absolute nominal insurance amount). Otherwise, it may slow down the package delivery as will as force receipt costs on the German side.

Mariaa 05-14-2006 08:09 AM

Are you in contact with someone there already?Did you speak w/someone re how they'd like the materials sent? Re actual films vs. CD?
I've sent things both ways before. Last time it was preferable to send actual films vs. CD ...

Mariaa 05-15-2006 07:45 AM

Dr.Fenk-Mayer replied to me and I was surprised at how courteous and well written a reply I received (nothing like what I've receieved to date here)!

I'm not sure who replies currently~ hope your wait will not be too long. Perhaps within 2 weeks or so...

Alastair 05-15-2006 10:52 AM

Hi Chuck,
it sounds as if you have had all your stuff already scanned, they don't like your stuff to be over 2 MB if you're e-mailing it. Which means that you could actually send a number of 2 MB e-mails of course.

I'm sure you've read how to do it in the FAQs so won't bore you with the details. You could always just copy them onto a CD and send them in the post -- -- -- I'm not sure how long it takes to get from America to Germany in the post. The nice thing about the CD is that you can always make yourself a copy to take with you if anything goes astray, or if you want to send them to another doctor
Best,
Alastair http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif

Kim 05-15-2006 12:29 PM

I have spoken with them in the past as well and can verify that they are very helpful and curteoous and go out of their way to help you with your questions.
Good luck to you Chuck!
If you put your films on CD you could get them FedExed I would imagine pretty quickly over there. I know it takes forever to get things in the mail unless you do Global Priority through USPS. I worked for a company in the UK and remember it took like 2 weeks for reg posts there. Priority was within a few days.
Hope this helps

chasswen 05-15-2006 02:37 PM

annapurna 05-19-2006 06:14 PM

What location? Bogen has some really cheap hotels compared with Munich. There's a FAQ about our trip there. I don't know much about Straubing but there's several websites for apartment or similar short-term rentals in Munich.

Kim 05-19-2006 08:44 PM

Chuck
I dont know if its in the FAQ's or what but if you do a search of the archived messages I know there were several posts about which hotels were nice in I think Bogen and Straubing that people had put on here in the past when asked about this.
I remember I think Alastair or Rich posting about being sure you get a hotel with air conditioning as they dont evidentally all have it automatically and it gets really hot in the summer.
I hope you find what you need and this has helped somewhat
Kim

chasswen 05-20-2006 05:11 AM

im not sure which location yet still waiting to hear from dr. fenk-mayer anita says she nomaally does her emails on the weekend so im hopeing to hear something this weekend.
thanks
chuck

Alastair 05-20-2006 07:01 AM

Hi folks,
A lot of the hotel stuff in the FAQs is about Munich, because that's where I went for my surgery.

Any information about Bogen or Straubling I would welcome, so I could put that in the FAQs also. No favouritism here it is a fully rounded board. A shortcut here for Bogen FAQ

The heading of this item is "sending films overseas", and there is an excellent FAQ about how to photograph x-rays and attach them to e-mails. The big thing with this that the camera and everything else is digital, this enables the doctors to blow the x-ray to a large magnification without distortion
best,
Alastair http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gif

trying to wait patiently.
chuck

Kim 05-24-2006 11:45 PM

Chuck
Do you have to wait til they see the films before you can get a surgery date? Did you receive your cost schedule?
I was just wondering how long the wait was for a surgery date.
Have you gotten your passport yet? I read it takes about 6 weeks to get one if you dont use some of the expedited services that they have. They are a bit costly but I guess would be worth it if you need one in a hurry. I did read that you have to have a travel itenerary or airline tickets etc to get an expedited passport through them.
I thought I would pass that along if you had not looked at it yet.

chasswen 05-25-2006 01:31 PM

kim
my wife and i applyed for pass ports weds the 24th
and applyed for the damn loan. weds also
and no i havent recieved cost estimate as of yet.
needless to say im getting abit antzy to say the least.ive asked those same questions and have not been replyed to yet. but i hear dr f-m only replys on sundays. this could take a long time.
and now my mind is set on pro-spine doing the procedure. http://adrsupport.org/groupee_common...icon_smile.gifpassports were sent reg they say 4 to 6 weeks.
thanks chuck
