pillows?!

Has anyone found a neck pillow that is comfortable? is up and down these days.

Cheryl, I use a very low memory foam pillow. I found it at Big Lots many years ago for $10 and to my surprise, it ended up being my favorite pillow ever for my neck. I have no lodorsis in my neck so my cervical spine is just straight as can be and quite a mess. I need three discs replaced per Dr. Clavel. Plus, my C6-C7 autofused about six years ago :(

Almost all pillows have too much height for me. I used to sleep on a very old and flat down pillow but, the memory foam gives me much better support. I measured my memory foam pillow and found one on Amazon that I think is the same thing. I sleep with the 4" portion under my neck. So, the short side is towards the headboard. It easily fits in a suitcase or can be carried on a plane too. You can be sure if I make it to Barcelona, it's going with me. Here's the one that looks like mine:

There is a closed group on Facebook called "Cervical Disc Replacement Surgery." It has 921 members now. You might want to check it out if you like to use Facebook. There are lots of nice people there and one of the very long threads on the board a while back had to do with pillows hahahaha. For good reason, all of us with cervical spine injuries find the topic of pillows very interesting! Anyway, the consensus there was that the Mediflow water pillow is the best so, I spent about $60 on Amazon for one. I really wanted it to work for me but, after a week I threw it on a chair in my bedroom and there it has been ever since because it is just too high for me. I'm back to using my $10 pillow from Big Lots.

Here is the Mediflow water pillow I bought. Mediflow has various versions and prices. It says it's 4" high too but, having a contoured pillow with a lower back i.e. 2 1/2" works better for me. The Mediflow pillow feels like my neck is at an angle.

Hopefully, one of these pillows will work for you!

I have about 20 pillows, the one I use most is a memory foam with a gel pad on one side, Costco, about $15.99 I think, 2 years ago. The gel helps keep it cool, it does help. I can't sleep in a bed, so I go from recliner, to chair, to couch. Each one has a pillow, all are memory foam.

Thanks Cynlite & Scoop, I will look into these suggestions. I have spent so much money on pillows!
