Once the device is settled and osteo-integration of each end-plate has occurred, and you have healed, you should be fine -- assuming proper positioning of the device and healthy facets. Patients are advised by their docs of this after their healing process is complete and they have no restrictions on their activities. That said, talk to your doctor...everyone's situation and healing time is a bit different than others. It's tempting to compare oneself to others and this is expected -- but it is always a risk to make subjective comparisons.

I am five years post-op and my spine is great. I do hang and do chin-ups, but I might think twice about inversion. This activity puts enormous tension on the entire spine and all its elements -- including the facets.
