I learned a lot about BP during the last few years. For me, it was:

1. Physical and emotional stress elevated my BP quite a bit; pain has a complicated effect on it.

2. NSAIDs almost always elevate my BP, some noticably more than others. Ibuprofen jacks my systolic up 20 to 30 points!

Your beta blocker may take a week or so to have a pronounced effect on lowering you BP, in case you just started...
