In 2000, I blew out an appendix (what a mess!) and woke up with some fancy seams in my gut. I was horrified when I needed "help" to get my bladder drained. This experience was, by far, worse than any of the procedures or discomfort I had with ADR.

Eddie, it's a good question. I am sure there's a reason why this madness continues...not everyone likes to torture patients!?

As a rule, why not catheter all patients who have spinal or abdominal surgery -- while they are under?!

PS Eddie: the "gazinta" is far worse than the "gazouta"
