Having two grown 'children' of my own I understand and appreciate your mother's position. I have a good idea of the devastation that would be heaped upon her if you came out of surgery worse than you went in. Certainly her opinion and the potential consequences on her should be considerations as you decide whether or not to proceed with a risky surgery. If the surgery is worth the risk is something that only you can decide. As you're pushing this surgery off because you're understandably 'chicken', it sounds like your answer right now is that it's not worth the risk?
