Good article. I've also heard of tart cherries (especially for gout), and more recently beef gelatin and collagen. I just bought some to give it a try.

About 20 years ago someone told me to soak golden raisins in (cheap) gin for two weeks, and give 9 raisins a day to my arthritic German shepherd/ Rottweiler mix. He weighed about 120 pounds. Not really sure why 9 was the magic number, but I followed the instructions and in about a week I swear it made a difference. He seemed to feel better. Never tried it for myself though!
