Default What assistance is needed when traveling for ADR?

I'm contemplating international travel (likely Dr. Clavel in Spain) and am wondering if it is necessary to take someone with you?

Certainly it would be convenient and reassuring to have someone there, but I get the impression that Dr. Clavel expects you to stay in the hospital for 5 days anyway, so it seems like you wouldn't need outside assistance during that time.

What have other people done?

* 40's, otherwise healthy, back pain for many years.
* DDD at L4/L5. Facet pain at same level.
* Multiple RF ablations, with inconsistent/marginal results.
* Single-level disc replacement with Dr. Clavel, Sept. 2017. Went well, recovery MUCH faster and less painful than anticipated. Now need to get active again and keep back in shape!
