I didn't even think about the scar it would leave until after my surgery, and I saw how large the bandage on my stomach was. And it really doesn't matter that much now, just it there is a way to reduce the scarring, I was do it.
But I think for a woman it could matter a lot more -- affecting what clothes could then be easily worn -- and other things being roughly equal, it could be a factor in which surgeon to pick.
I have not seen this discussed before, but perhaps it has.
