Default Introducing myself - Just had Fibrin injected L 4-5

Hello,

Yesterday, I had an injection to my L 4-5 disc to fill tears within the disc. The procedure was performed in Florida, using the Biostat device. The material that was injected is calledd Tisseel and is made by Baxter. Although this is an experimental off-label use of the product, my doctor gave me this option because of the impressive long-term pain relief results several of his colleagues are having with patients who are participants in the clinical FDA trials for Fibrin Sealant, now in its third and final phase. My doctor tells me that Tisseel is the same product being used in the ongoing trials, although it is referred to as Fibrin Sealant for purposes of the study.

I found these forums yesterday, while I was back home, beginning my 48 hrs of flat-on-my-back bed rest. I was thrilled to discover some forum members who had been through the Fibrin disc injections---Linda and Sean come to mind. By reading through Linda's detailed posts, I was able to glean information that was new to me, and quite helpful. I added ice packs to my back, and they felt wonderful. I also appreciated the detailed info she received from Dr. Kevin Pauzer's office, since he has done thousands more of these than my doctor.

It will take me a while to gather the requested info for my signature line, as I have had a litany of procedures over the past 19 months since my car was hit by a truck. Meanwhile, I wanted to say hello and thank you to "Harrison" for putting this forum together, plus extend my thanks to all of the other members who diligently share their personal experiences in forum posts so all of us may benefit from the collective knowledge of this community.
