Hello fellow spine people,

I am considering ADR overseas with Dr. Zeegers. My primary insurance is Medicare...I don't think they'll cover anything. My secondary, though, is a PPO. How do I go about finding out/requesting coverage for the overseas surgery? Or do I just have it done, then send in the bills and see what happens?

Don't know how to do this. Thanks. I'm also a little nervous that once they find out I'm considering surgery that they'll find a reason to cancel my policy.

I would call your secondary insurance company and ask if they covere surgeries done internationally. My own experience is that they do not cover anything overseas unless it is an emergency. It will not hurt to ask.

I forgot to ask you if Dr. Yue is your doctor? If you have not seen him, my suggestion prior to doing anything is to go see him and see what he recommends. He works with Dr. Bertnagoli in Germany, he did my surgery and I think Dr. B, Dr. Fenk-Mayer are great. If you have any questions please feel free to e-mail me. I am from Wallingford, how about you?

I would agree with the Dr. Y. recommendation. I live in Ohio and I am currently trying to schedule surgery with him.
