I guess conversation quickly turns to politics in an election year, right LBP. I thought we were all on the same side. What other side are you talking about? I am not a liberal democrat. I do not believe , no matter how hard you try, you or anyone else is going to teach the insurance companies anything. Unfortunately they are some of the most powerful people in the world. I don't like that fact but I am a realist. Do you really believe that Moore/Oprah can touch these people. Do you really think that the world is more worried about us spineies than they are about the veterans returning from IRAG that are all messed up and getting no care? Who do you think is more important, them or us? Did you watch that documentary by CBS ?

No, I would personally not waste one minute of my day watching OPRAH. My wife use to. Right up until the day she took credit for giving everyone in the audience a new car. She didn't buy the cars with her money, FORD (or Chevy?) did. She just took credit for it. And so on, and so on, and so on....

Marilyn, do you really believe that OPRAH is a "power broker"? You have got to be kidding me. She is a talk show host just like "Jerry Springer". She is supposed to be entertainment. Do you really think anyone in Washington cares about OPRAH? And yes, any law firm would take our case only for the money, and not because they care about you or me. Just for the money ,like OPRAH/Moore.

HEY ZorroSF, what exactly did I reveal about myself? If you want to attack me personally please PM me.

None of this matters. Political views have no place on this dicussion board. HARRISON is right, to continue is not longer consturctive for what we are trying to accomplish. There are a lot of people out there in need of help more than us. Once we, the " GUINEA PIGS", prove that our ADR devices will last long enough to make them a viable option that the insurance companies won't have to pay to replace every five years, we'll have something to complain about. Until then, we are just an experiment.

Let's deal with that fact and try to keep the cause moving forward. We all had to pay for our surgeries so we are all on the same side. I would much rather put my faith and energy in the people that have got us to were we are now.

Thanks Harrison,

Dave

Well, for my part, I emailed the show to give them a cost rundown/comparison between a single-level cervical ADR here and the prices quoted from this board for surgery 'elsewhere' with a request: Do the math and see what the profit margin is, and where it's going. Also told them that living in France, I never saw a bill from my own cervical surgery performed by DR DH. Even my meds were 100% remimbursed.

The US needs to take a look at how other countries are doing things, and France is a good place to start. It's not a perfect system here, and people abuse a good thing which is leading to financial probs requiring immediate attention, but I've always found the care excellent. You don't see ads for drugs in magazines because the prices are fixed by the government. When we were home on vacation a few years ago, my daughter needed Clarityn for allergies--I almost choked at the price of a bottle of it. Here, I go to the pharmacy, show my card and most often walk out without opening my wallet. However,as of this year many meds are no longer reimbursed due to the deficit created by over-prescriptions and people just taking what they don't really need...nothing's perfect but there are definite lessons to be learned from how other countries are managing health care.

I haven't received all of my bills yet, so I don't dare send my insurance story until they are all addressed. I have over $100k of bills to make sure get paid.

Thanks to everyone who responded and sent your story to Harrison!

David...I am sorry we disagree. The "other side" refers to someone that already has an ADR. After you get your surgery and start posting in the recovery section...most people say "welcome to the other side."

Oprah is building schools for poor girls in Africa. Most are living parentless because of the AIDS crisis there. She has built neighborhoods of HOMES for Katrina survivors! She does shows giving recognition to other every day people who do great charity work. Everyone but you is paying attention to her. Every year she has a show called "my favorite things" and she gives everyone in the audience everything she shows...it's like a huge Xmas. It's top secret when the show will be and one year she decided to only let teachers into the show...she wanted to reward teachers. Pretty nice.

Michael Moore is getting unbelievable attention. I heard that even the Fox channel has praised him for this lastest documentary! He's been inteviewed by everyone. Last night he was on Nightline. He's just testified in Sacramento before the CA state legislature.

Harrison, thank you for organizing and gathering the stories.
I think we need to agree to disagree on the Michael Moore and Oprah issues. Let's focus our energy and efforts on making some positive changes.

Have been on every website thinkable tonight, Oprah's and Moore's, and the interview has been banned. Even on u-tube. Not sure why but the EIP has prohibited it from showing..

Guess what, the EIP is a lawfirm that represents OPRAH..., and other "ENTERTAINERS".

Why would that be?? Bad for the ratings maybe !

Well you can still see the trailer and other interviews related to Moore's documentary at youtube. just type in Moore and sicko and you'll get it.

Just won't see Oprah interviewing him.

To the Michael Moore dissenters:

here's the full motion picture SiCKO

http://files.filefront.com//;7786616;;/

press the blue Play button to watch the film online or press the Download Now to save the file to your computer.

@DavidJ, I am not trying to be personal. I am a realist too and I hate sensationlism for a 30 second sound bite. However, this is quite a decent film about the state of healthcare in this country. You'll find the people represented in the film are just like you and me.
