I just received my pre-surgery packet from TBI and in there they say I have to buy a "Cybertec Back Brace" and bring it to surgery. I have called every local medical equipment place and nobody sells it. Were you able to find it in your local town (like from a national medical equipment chain) or could you buy it from TBI?

Thanks.

Paula,

I have the same brace you are looking for. Had surgery at TBI 4 weeks ago and the day before the surgery they fit me in their own offices for the brace. Took about 15 minutes and that was it. Call Joanne or Tammy, they are both Dr. Z's assistants.

You are in great hands with Dr. Z. and TBI. I have no complaints or regrets at all.

Good Luck

Dave

Yeah, I have an e-mail and call to JoAnn.

It's just weird that the letter said that I had to purchase the brace with the prescription script that they included and that I had to find a local medical equipment place that my insurance company covered. If they provided the brace, then why would they send the prescription? I'm just wondering if they changed their policy on where to get the brace. Or am I just confused (blame it on the meds)?

Didn't your instruction letter say the below and did they provide you the prescription beforehand?

Quote:
Brace – please contact your insurance company to find out where you can purchase your brace. Please take the enclosed script with you to this appointment. You must bring this brace with you on the day of surgery.

Hey Paula, just saw your post so had to respond since I just went through the whole thing with Zigler as well...

Hangar Orthotics did the whole thing for me. They are everywhere where I live. maybe they are near you as well. They are a national orthotic and prosthetic company. Maybe do a google search and they may be near you.

Double check with your insurance to see what orthotic companies are covered. I was only covered at 50% for my brace so I had to pay $100 for that. Kinda pricey but worth it as I live in mine.

Let me know if you need anything else.

Craig

Paula --

My second-level appeal (Aetna) for 3-level ADR is due next week. I am desperately seeking patients for whom Aetna has covered multilevel ADR so I can claim there are precedents for my case. Would you be willing to discuss offline? I have sent you a PM with contact info in it.

Many, many thanks for your help!

Eliza
