We were quoted $54,000 for a two level Prodisc surgery in the USA, back in October. We were then quoted $36,000 American Dollars (appox.) for the same in Germany. Cost was not our deciding factor, though.

The reason for my question is because $30,000 is a much lower figure than I would have thought for a three level. I've read a lot about the cost of around $40-50,000 for a single, maybe a bi-level. I was just caught off guard. Could it be that the cost changes like that of new technology. Give it a year or two and that new t.v. today will be so much cheaper then? I know the procedure had been performed for over 20 years in Europe but two years ago, when I first started checking on this I thought I was seeing much higher figures.

Bionicback,

Not sure who quoted you $110,000 but I just return from the Texas Back Institute and am in the process of scheduling surgery for 1/07 for a one level (l5/s1) replacement for a cost of $37,000. (plus unforseen expenses and travel).

Sounds like maybe your talking to a doctor that doesn't do a lot of ADR? I live in Pittsburgh, PA so I went to see a Doctor here first. He said he has done a couple (4) and the cost would be $120,000. Spend the money and travel to TBI. Not sure who your Doctor is but my guess is that he does not have near the experience as Dr. Blumenthal at TBI (1,500 ADR's to date according to him).

Good luck and keep searching..

Dave
