JeffR,
I'm not sure you meant anything by it, but your post was poorly timed and not very helpful at this point - in fact, reading it the night before my surgery gave me more worry and doubt. I posted this thread for support, exactly what this forum was intended for. If you have read the posts, you would have seen that this was a difficult choice for me. Posting about strongly considering Dr. Clavel and how great he is when my choice had already been made and I'm sitting in the hospital in Germany the night before my surgery with Dr. Bierstedt doesnt make any sense. This was a difficult decision for me and took several months to make. I believe Dr. Clavel is awesome, and I like him very much - I have skyped with him twice and plan on consulting with him in the future. I relieve he is also an excellent choice. The choice of Dr. Bierstedt was a personal one - I believe him to be an excellent surgeon as well and the rehab was very important for me. My friend who is an osteopath said that early rehab is a big deal and talking to those who have been here really sold it for me.. That, combined with Dr. Bierstedts cervical outcomes and his personality and answers made me ultimately chose him. As for an update for everyone, I'm going to post in the surgical outcomes forum from here on, but I'm doing very well. I had very little to no pain yesterday several hours after the surgery and was walking around and didn't need any painkillers. The nurses strongly suggested I take them at night, so I did just to relive some soreness, but I really don't feel I need them anymore. They switched me to paracetamol, which is like Tylenol and I only only took one today. I'm walking around and feel fine. I'm just a little tired from the stress and anesthesia from yesterday. The nurses here are excellent, polite and attentive. The hospital here in Hattingen is clean and quiet. Thank you everyone for your well wishes.
