Default Looking for information

Hey everyone, I am new to the site, don't know if I even filled out my signature correctly cuz I don't know the lingo yet but here goes....

I have 3 fusions in my lumbar done in 2009, for the past 1 1/2 years have had ongoing pain and increasing numbness in my right leg. Doc wants to do guess what?....a fusion! Like it worked the first time! Anyway the disc is no longer attached to the vertebrae and now I'm and inch shorter than I used to be. Can't sleep through the night because I can't lay down for very long. Increasingly getting difficult to carry on with my day to day activities. I've read some about the ADR in Germany by Dr. Bertagnoli and have started the process to see if I'm a candidate, if so we'll decide something from there.

Anyone have some good recent information on ADR would certainly be helpful to me, thanks a bunch.

Default Broken screw

Can anyone tell me how a screw would/could break in half at the top of a cervical fusion? Also, why do the docs seem uninterested in it being in there and doing anything about it. Well I did have one doc tell me that the entire 3 level fusion needed to be replaced, he didn't like the one I have that was placed by another neurosurgeon who I refuse to go back to.

Hi Drillnpick,

Sorry to hear about everything that is going on. I am pretty new here to this sight also, but i have learned alot. Lots of people here have good insights so hopefully they will chime in soon. In the mean while You will get alot out of reading what people say and what they have been through. I know Dr. Clavel in Spain has done some wonderfull things for people here, so he is a Dr. that I am sending my info to. Also check out the Texas Back Insitute.

I hope you have a good day.

Ally

Hi D. I hope it's OK that I merged your topic with your other one (broken hardware).

I am no doc and have little ortho expertise. I tend to research and focus on conditions that cause systemic degeneration of bones and soft tissues (diet, chronic infection, long term stress, etc.). So my question is back to you.

Since you have shared that you have carpal tunnel and other joint problems, is there a relationship? How is your bone density throughout your body? Have you had a thorough work-up of your blood and bones?

Here are a few meaty, multi-page topics for you to consider:
