Seeking Surgeon Will Travel
Hi,
I looking to have a multilevel disc replacement, possibly as many levels as four. I am hoping right now that my insurance company will pay for that, though my surgeon says he has never had an insurance company pay for a multilevel disc replacement. I'm trying to push it through my insurance company but just in case I want to have a backup plan. I am more than happy to travel were ever I need to even out of the United States. The most important thing to me is that I find the best possible surgeon to meet my needs. I do not want to use the PRODISC since my previous surgeon told me he pulled one out of a patient only to find it was super corroded. I would really like to find a surgeon who uses the M6 model. I would also love feedback from anybody who has an M6 model I would love to know how it's working for you. I look forward to everyone's response.

Clavel found L5-S1 partially fused. Had to cut it apart to put in M6. Please excuse brevity - SEVERE carpel tunnel. |

If you want an M6, then you'll have to leave the country to get it...for now anyways.
Dr. Chris Dare just did a 3 level total disc replacement, he is in England. Dr. Clavel is in Barcelona and many members here have used him. Dr Luiz Pimenta works in Brazil and California. Do some research on here, lots of good information to be found.

Thank you! After reading all the posts, I'm leaning toward Dr. Clavel.

Hi,
Sorry that you are here, but know that you will find the right path for you. I just had surgery by Dr. Clavel, Oct. 24 and must say I am doing fantastic. There is some residual nerve pain, but he said that my nerves were very compressed and to expect it. We are very hopeful that with PT, exercise & time that the nerve pain will fade away completely. Best of luck & if I can answer any questions or help shoot me a PM.

Thank you. My nerves have been compressed for nearly a decade, so I may be in the same boat as you. On the MRI they are so compressed they are nonexistent. Did he give you a time frame for when the pain will stop?
