I just found out that I'm getting my Charite on Ocotber 4th, by Dr. Yue, at Yale New Haven Hopsital. I'm going to be getting it at the L4-5 level. I just wanted to let everyone know how great it has been to hear everyones experiences with ADR and all the crazy other thoughts that come to mind in regards to it. I know that I'm making the right decision by not going with a fusion. At 22 years old, I've been told I'd need another surgery in a few years if I go the fusion route, do to the adjacent levels being effected. It's too bad that I'm paying for the ADR with my own money, but will appeal BCBS afterwords and hopefully get reimbursed. I'll be sure to keep everyone posted. Everyones been really great. I'll be seeing you on the other side.

Great news and all best wishes on your surgery. Dr. Yue was kind enough to call long-distance twice to talk at length with both my husband and me and we were quite impressed--I am planning to fly out to Connecticut to meet with him. Our experience confirms the many positive comments by his patients on this board. So you will be in good hands. Please keep us posted.

Dr. Yue is my stateside doctor. Just think about this a doctor that knows his abilities and trusts in them and when he doesn't feel he is the right doctor recommends the correct one and follows your process all the way through. There are many doctor out there that claim they can handle any surgeries (my first doctor was like that and that is why I needed a more serious surgery). Also many doctors will not be follow up doctors after someone else hase done the surgery especially overseas. He has been great to my husband and myself in explaining the procedure at great length and will take the time to answer all your questions and will never make you feel rushed.
I actually had my year appointment (October 16th is actually date) last week and both he and I are in amazement at the difference a year makes, I can basically do whatever I want. Although I remain very cautious and do not do anything stupid, you still have to remember how serious your pain was before and ask yourself do you want to live like that again. You keep asking yourself that question and you will be very careful.
Again you are in the best hands in this country, just my opinion, cannot say enough about him.

Faith, I hope you have a safe surgery in December. It means a lot to know that there are people out there who are going through the same thing I am. I'll keep you all posted when I have my new back.

I wish you good luck on your upcoming surgery. I'm right behind you on Oct. 12 with Dr. B. I'm in total agreement with you on the support we've received from this forum, and about the insurance issue too!

J,

Awesome news! Dr. Yue is an incredibly skilled surgeon and one heck of a guy too. If you need anything else, don't hesitate to shoot me an email.
