I just looked up a website via askjeeves.com it offered a passport in 12 hours for $149, and then there were ones for 8 days at $98 I believe and 10days at another cost...

I think my last one might be expired as it was nearly 10 years ago... so I bet you can get more "updated" info than what I gave you at first!

I paid $150 at a local passport agency and got it in one week.

Go to travel.state.gov to have all your questions answered. If you have your plane ticket and are traveling in a short period of time you can get your passport expedited (for a lot of money) if not it will take several weeks. You can now make application for your passport at most US Post Offices.

Chasswen,

I am in a similar situation and looking at Germany if I need anything done. It would be helpful if in you signature, you listed more about your DDD history and how many and which levels you may have done. Thanks for your posts.

About 3 years ago when I needed a passport - We went to the courthouse to apply. (I am trying to remember the name of the office) - Anyways, if just applying for a passport with standard processing it could take around 6 weeks to be processed & received. HOWEVER, one can have the process expedited and can get a passport in 3 business days. It would cost around $100.00 more for expedition, but when on a time constraint - it was worth it.
