Default Need info about a two doctors in Chicago area...

I am going up to Chicago in June for my Step-son's graduation and have made an appointment with Dr Steven Mather in Downers Grove. Has anyone heard anything about him?

Also, another name I have is Ronjon Paul? Anyone heard anything about him either?

Neither good or bad! Try not to read into it!

well i did find some more info about him online, and his specialty is failed back surgery, so I'll take that as a good sign and he's trained in both prodisc and charite, as far as how many he's done, I don't know.

That's for Mather anyway...

Well I do not know the two you mentioned but when I lived in WI, I drove down to Aurora, IL, SW of Chicago and had a consult with Dr. Geisler. He's one of the Charite guys...involved in the Charite FDA clinical trials, and probably the Kineflex ADR trials.

Personality wise, I wasn't a fan of Dr. Geisler but I had compared him to my favorite surgeon Dr. Westerlund that used to practice in so cal now in Georgia. But if you want another opinion, and you're driving north...you might want to consider him.

The problem I had with Dr. Geisler is that he seemed too loyal to Charite and unwiling to openly compare and discuss the pros and cons of all the different discs.

Good luck.

A friend had surgery about 5 or 6 years ago by Dr. Richard Fessler at the Univ. of Chicago Hospital. He had a minimally invasive fusion at L5-S1 and is very happy and really has respect for Dr. Fessler. According to my firend, Dr. Fessler was named Head of the Neurosurgery Dept. a couple of years ago, so I don't think he sees as many patients anymore, but might be worth talking to.

Good luck,
