Folks,
we've got a member going across for surgery in the not too distant future. It is very hot across there at the moment and I know we've got a lot of people that have been to Dr Bertagnolli -- -- -- he says that there are some hotels with air-conditioning but neither Anita or himself knows which ones they are. Help required for this member Best, Alastair

Well folks I was across in Munich, in July almost 4 years ago now, there was no air-conditioning in the hotel that I was in -- -- -- it was a bit of a "living hell" being so near to the Alps which you could see from your bedroom, I had absolutely incredible lightning storms which lit the bedroom most of the night torrential rain, and incredibly hot and steamy conditions. I'm just assuming that it is very similar at Staubling at this time as Munich and Staubling are not far from each other.
Best, Alastair

Hello Everyone,
I have been asked this several times recently, so I thought I should post. Chasswen is correct that it is normally not over 80 here, however, as I say this, its a muggy 85. This could be related to the fever pitch of the worldcup soccer, the Germans are indeed very serious about this and its estimated that when Germany is playing, over 95% of Germany is watching.) There are two hotels in Straubing that have air conditioning, mind you it is not standard American (very cold ) air conditioning, but the present patients are quiet comfortable in these two hotels that I list in my info pack. They are The ASAM and The Theresientor. (Although not all rooms have air conditioning so you must ask). Although the hospitals are not air conditioned, the nurses work to keep the areas as cool as possible, (low level or no lighting when not needed) I have purchased fans that have made it very comfortable and the windows open wide for air exchange. It is certainly a different system than in the states and being able to open a window in a hospital room is a delight. Restaurants are not usually air conditioned but most have very comfortable open air eating under umbrellas on clean cobblestone streets, which is the ultimate European experience. (Oh, and God Bless the Biergartens) With Warm Regards, (no pun intended), Anita Peludat International Patient Coodinator Dr. Rudolf Bertagnoli

Menopausal women carry your own pocket fan~ and light cotton, nylon, polyester blend clothing that is airy and dries quickly when washed (by hand/hang up). Carry crushable ice packs that you can place on nape of neck, face, chest if in a restaurant or place with no air... (hints from my menopause and dealing in hot humid weather)...or use ice if you get it wherever...
Also, for some on certain pain meds, higher temps may trigger some symptoms that cause feeling of difficulty breathing/increased body heat w/higher temps~ hydration is key here as well as cooling down. Asthmatics and other medical concerns that may be triggered by higher heat conditions, be prepared as you would here in the States for this type of weather. Be comfortable~ |
