Anyone get insurance coverage for their 2 or 3 level ADR?

I was approved for a two-level ADR w/Dr. Regan thru Empire BC/BS of Greater NY. This doesn't necessarily mean that they'd pay...

Ans,

I see you are a 2 level but have DDD from L2 on.

Did you have a discogram done? Were only 2 discs painful?

Hi ans:

Would you please clarify this? Thanks!

Have you requested approval for a Zeegers procedure?

Judi: The discogram revealed that only L5-S1 generated pain. But Delamarter's partner said I should have had a discogram higher than I did due to DDD. He suggested two more levels later post-ADR by a lateral approach for this. I don't really understand DDD (= crumbling bones?) or w/a lateral approach for higher lumbar levels means.

Cervie: No, I haven't checked the overseas option. I have no idea what would happen, re: if they'd pay, etc. Nor do I know if my BC of CA secondary would pay. I'd ask Mark about insurance since he does this a lot.

Sorry I can't be of more help folks. Be well, ans

I know someone that had a 2 level approved by CG Open Access Plus. Why/how it was approved I don't know and neither did he when I asked him.

Doctor submitted for approval and got it.

I asked my insurance, UHC, about having surgery done abroad and they said if the surgery was approved then yes I could have it done abroad but I would then be at the out of network rate. Of course, I still have to get the surgery recommended and approved.

Since I also have UHC, that information is good to know.

Hopefully my appointment at the beginning of next month with Dr. Brad Mullin (Columbus, OH) will result in a recommendation for 1 level ADR, so that is when the insurance fun-time should begin
