I am just curious, but does anyone on this board have, or know someone with a Maverick ADR? I would love to speak with anyone knowing anything about this device. Thanks.-Jasson

I have 2 Mavericks in the lumbar spine and 2 Prestige discs in the cervical spine. What are you wanting to know about the device?

I was curious what your recovery time was like. What if any side effects you expierenced from the implantation of the Maverick at those levels. How long have you had them? Where did you go to get them done? What MD did you use? How satisfied you are, any regrets? I have a Charite at L5-S1,and a herniation at L4-L5 now. Also, how does your overall strength and stability feel at your Lumbar? All info you are willing to share would be great!Thanks-Jassson

Hi Chillee
I am 5 1/2 months post -op with the Maverick and feeling better.I had 3 levels which take longer ,but have know regrets .My range of motion is so much better, the pain I used to get in my arms and neck are gone.I am still dealing with distraction pain, but notice improvement every day.It was know joy ride getting to where I am now ,it was pure hell, but again no regrets I had my surgery done at Stenum hosp. in Germany and Terry can also tell you that the care there is the best.I just wish I knew what me and the family were in for I am currently back at work part time for another 2 wks.And feel I'll be ready for full at that point.
I can't compare 1 a.d.r to another.I know this forumn sells the prodisc pretty heavily ,but I was always impressed with the Mavericks 2 piece ball and socket design (simple)There are web sites where you can weigh out the pros and cons of any a.d.r Good luck and let me know how you make out

I had two levels done with the Maverick disc. I drove at two weeks, went on vacation with 10.5 hour drive one way at 6 weeks and went back to work after 8 weeks. I had distraction pain which still rears it's ugly head from time to time. I also have problems still with doing anything rotationally and have some sacroilliac problems that need to be addressed. I am still on Lyrica at a high dose of 400mg per day and will be working with the doctor this week to wean myself off of these. I liked the ball and socket design of the Maverick and also had the Prestige discs put in to my neck at the same time. I am prepared to have the recovery take some time as I was 49 years old when I had it done. So far I have no regrets though that could change as the recovery is not over yet for this surgery.

Sorry to hijack the topic here, but I must respond to Kevin’s post. This site is the only discussion board that is run as a non-profit entity, and was launched to provide the “good, bad and ugly” of artificial disc replacement. There are NO business interests that compromise the sharing of any information. If there is “selling” it comes from individual posters. Please see more about the overall information policy here:

Reminder on this discussion board
http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/t...1/m/8361017112

So, this is the place to go to get raw, objective information from patients who talk about their pre-and post-op experiences. If anyone comes across another patient site that is non-profit, please do tell! I’d love to work with them!

Kevin: I am glad you and Terry had good experiences. It’s all too frequent that we read about horrific experiences from new members who were injured. See Marilyn’s posts here: http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/t...1/m/4531082602

Chillee, back to you. What’s the curiosity with other discs? I am wondering if you are second-guessing the design of your implant? Let us know what you learn from your X-Rays, as it sounded like the placement & positioning was correct…?

Yes, second guessing is for sure. I just have not felt anywhere close to right since the ADR with Charite. I figure if L4-L5 is going bsd, I might as well have both levels addressed while i am under on the table again for almost 10 hours. Just trying to do my homework. I am no engineer, but the Maverick does seem superior in many different ways from a Charite'. so I decided now to rock the boat a little! Let it begin......

Let it be known that also that I agree with Harrison. In my short time on this board I have not encountered anyone trying to "sell" a particular ADR over another. I merely am inquiring into all my options as I am facing some type of surgery at L4-L5 as well to the Charite I already have at L5-S1. My biggest concern is longevity, as I was only 25 when I had my first ADR. My rock the boat comment was merely to try to get more feedback, not to undermine the sole purpose of everyone here, and that is support for all of us. Best Wishes!-Jasson
