Six ways to bring a smile into your life

FACT! Smiling sends messages to your brain which then begins to produce your body's natural 'happy hormones' and painrelieving chemicals, including endorphins. A smile helps to relax your face - a relaxed face is a happy face, and a happy face is a happier, calmer body!

1. Do something for someone else, no matter how small, even a heartfelt 'Thank you' or a greeting like 'Hello, how great to see you!' makes a difference to you and to them.

2. Booster Book - buy a notebook and write down as fast as you can all your achievements in your life. Add to it regularly and re-read whenever you need a boost.

3. Don't take everything for granted - make a special effort to appreciate the natural beauty around you. Even if you are indoors you can wonder at the amazing skies you see from your window.

4. Get rid of limiting self-beliefs. Tell yourself "I am good at …" and change "can't" into "can".

5. Be consciously grateful for all the good in your life, last thing at night go through the day and sift out those moments that were pleasurable and positive, concentrate on those and all the blessings in your life as you fall asleep.

6. Finally - the PainSupport Smile!
Smile, smile, smile! Even if you don't feel like smiling, by gently smiling you will give your body messages of relaxation and peace and your smile will gradually turn to a real smile giving real joy, not only to you, but to anyone you encounter.

Remember, when you give a smile away, the other person gains but you lose nothing, you retain a 'copy' of the pleasure for yourself. We all know and remember a smily person - someone whose heart seems to radiate through their smile. And when they smile, notice how it's almost impossible not to smile back! So if you don't feel a smile coming on - why not do it anyway. Not only does it transform your inner chemical production and create 'happy pain-relieving hormones', but when people are on the end of your smile, they smile back (unless they are feeling very grumpy). And if you really genuinely don't feel like smiling - fake it until you make it!

TOOL KIT - If you liked this idea why not keep it in your Tool Kit notebook or folder of self-help pain relief methods. If you haven't started one yet, why not keep a special notebook or folder as your Tool Kit to remind you of techniques and skills for coping with pain. Your Tool Kit is especially useful when pain flares up. It will help prevent panic and fear and give you constructive ideas to focus upon.

WORDS OF WISDOM

'A happy person is not a person in a certain set of circumstances, but rather a person with a certain set of attitudes.'

AND FINALLY...

Laws of Inconvenience

Bath Law : When the body is fully immersed in water, the telephone rings.

Shoe Law: If the shoe fits, it's really ugly.
Law of Dirty Rugs/Carpets: The chances of an open-faced sandwich landing face down on a floor covering are directly correlated to the newness and cost of the carpet/rug.

Product Law: As soon as you find a product that you really like, they will stop making it.
