If you have been approved for ADR surgery, please let us know. When working on an appeal, sometimes it is useful to know which companies have approved, and you can include that info in your appeal letter. When I talked to my doctor's office recently, the insurance situation did not seem to have improved at all. Also, let us know why you think you were approved. So far as I know, UHC is not paying.

Good luck to all.

kristi,

Heath Comp is my insurance and is a 3rd party insurance through Universal Heath Network. UHN authorized my ADR and with a little parading Heath Comp paid the bills even for a non-FDA approved device.

You can read about my insurance success here

My WC company is Liberty Mutual. I'm going for a second IME (Independant Medical Exam) in March and two of the three IME doctors were doing Charites. One doctor did 20+ (Vacarro in Phily) and some other guy in NJ who did his first one 2 weeks ago. AT least these guys are up on the technology even though I'm probably not using them. It seems like I may get my disc sometime this year after I jump through these hoops.
Yes I still want my Maverick (unless someone can show me a signifigant difference in distraction levels in the discs)and I am not letting the Ins Co. wear me down.
Time is what hurts the most. The combo of pain/drugs/mental stress is a killer! I need treatment, not evaluations, but these are the steps alot of us have to take.

My WC company is State Auto Ins. out of Indiana and they had no problem at all paying for my Charite. They did want to speak with the surgeon prior to the approval to get the pros/cons and the difference between ADR and fusion. I'm 7 months post-op and haven't paid 1 penny.

My WC underwriting insurer is Corvel. They covered my ADR after I appealed to the state WC board.
