What is Stenum Hospital's Reputation?
Dislocated Disc and Stenum (Incredible Stories; Very Sad Commentaries)
http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7501036081...131067081#4131067081 Stenum Hospital http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/t...1/m/4531082602 Back from Stenum http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/t...1/m/7551031581 The patient's perspective: My story one year post ADR revision http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7501036081...101008081#1101008081 Seeing Red over Harrisons Article http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7701036081...821077081#3821077081 Stenum Hospital Problems http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7501036081...091067081#8091067081 Stenum Hospital Mr B http://adrsupport.org/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/7501036081...001096081#6001096081 Major Thrombosis Complication posted March 22, 2006 05:36 PM -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Preop symptoms: legs and feet burning, tingling and twitching On 2/2/06 I had the L4-5 and L5-S1 disc levels replaced with 2 Maverick artificial disc replacements at Stenum Hospital in Bremen, Germany. I chose Stenum mainly because I wanted an all metal disc that I thought would last my lifetime. I am a 50 year old male. During the surgery the left iliac vein was cut by error. It was sutured. In the ICU I began to have nausea and diarrhea. My blood pressure went way down and I was given oxygen. On the 3rd day after surgery the hospital orthopedic intern saw my left leg was very swollen and I had black and blue areas in my side and groin areas. She sent me to the city to check for thrombosis. Unfortunately, it was confirmed that I had extensive hematoma and class 2 thrombosis in 4 major compartments (stomach, groin, thigh and calf). I stayed in the hospital for 7 weeks until I was able to fly safely back to the USA. Currently I cannot do anything for very long without my leg and groin getting very swollen. This has been a disaster for me. Stenum has said that I am the first patient to have such a thrombosis. At this point I would like to say how wonderful some of the things at Stenum are: *my back seems to be doing much better although I still get some numbness in my feet *the beautiful countryside and woods nearby *the caring and compassionate nurses *the first class physical and massage therapists *the very capable and caring head of the hospital (acts as assistant in the ADR surgery) as well as the orthopedic intern that diagnosed my thrombosis *the very competent international department coordinator and administrator Next some of the bad things at Stenum: *I never met the ADR surgeon before, during or after the surgery, even after my disaster. *Is the ADR surgeon ceritfied to do vascular surgery? Please pray for me that I will continue to heal from this wretched thrombosis. If you would like to discuss this further please do not hesitate to call me at 330-212-4101. Rob Wilson
