ADR Support is an amazing community of people seeking a common goal...to return their lives to a state of normalcy...one that does not involve chronic back pain. I have been blessed by many of you on this forum, both through your tireless research and thoughtful responses. In my opinion (as someone seeking the best resolution to my problems possible), selective censorship keeps this community from being as effective as it could/should be.

Below is a statement from the "about us" section of the website:

We encourage feedback from people whose lives and business focus on ADR. WE WOULD ESPECIALLY LIKE TO HEAR FROM PATIENTS, MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS, AND ARTIFICIAL DISC MANUFACTURERS.

Feedback, should include good and bad, pro or con. It should include patients and professionals that we like/ don't like/ agree with/ oppose. Its clear to me that if there is not a written agenda on this site, then there is certainly an unwritten rule about what should and should not be included or is allowable in a post.

If this site is to go forward and repair its credibility, then these agendas need to be set aside. Because as it stands now, this forum is not putting its best foot forward.

Thanks for writing and communicating your concerns on behalf of a spine consultant. The terms of service which you and other members accepted clearly differentiate between patients and non-patients. This forum is for patients. What part of that do you not understand?!

My "agenda" has always been to provide a peaceful community, without the interference of spine brokers, consultants and other non-patients. I will continue to aggressively preserve this position; and the attacks are validation that this hard work is worth it!

And that section of the web site was written four years ago, so thanks for reminding me that it needs updating! So nice of you to point that out. If you are not happy being part of this community for any reasons, I encourage you to leave so that others who are happy here can get the support they need.

Everyone, I am sure that these dissenting voices will continue for a while. This crazy noise is all from one spine consultant! Go figure. Sorry for the disturbance.

Member Guidelines

Everyone is welcome to have their opinions and interpretations, but our shared goal is to foster an environment where people do not feel intimidated by rants, bullying, and repetition. Remember that our community is publicly accessible and is read by many, many more people than just registered members. These guidelines clarify these principles to help maintain a peaceful community. We aspire to help people!

Required Code of Ethics for Participation:

1. Inappropriate, defamatory, abusive, anti-competitive, or illegal statements, opinions, and material are prohibited. Members must comply with generally accepted business e-mail etiquette.

2. Nothing communicated in any discussion forum should be construed as medical or legal advice, regardless of the source.

3. It is acceptable to post information on any commercial product or service as long as it has something to do with the focus of the Forum. (For example, a book, tape, CD, seminar, etc.) Members acknowledge and understand that any reliance on material posted by other members will be at the user’s own risk.

4. Please treat others as you would expect them to treat you. Personal attacks or any type of "flaming" of other community members will not be tolerated. Refrain from personal attacks and abusive language - use constructive criticism (e.g. criticize the logic, ethics, or interpretation), not destructive criticism (e.g. personally attack an individual, their writing style, post member’s private emails without permission, etc.)

5. Please refrain from "trolling", i.e. posting topics or opinions that are designed to provoke a negative response from one or more specific members.

6. Refrain from using offensive language. If you have any doubts about whether a particular statement might be considered offensive by other members, please do not post it. You do not need to use profanity to get your point across to other members.

7. Do not engage in any disruptive activities on any forum, such as persistent off-topic postings or comments, or statements that might incite other members to violate these guidelines or participate in questionable activities.

8. Do not post messages or upload files that contain photos, software or other material protected by intellectual property laws, rights of privacy or publicity, or other applicable laws unless you own or have rights to these materials.

9. Do not post any instructions, software or other materials that would allow community members or third parties to harm other members' computers or to inappropriately access software or websites. You are not permitted to post any computer programs that contain destructive features, such as viruses, worms or Trojan horses. In addition, you cannot employ any type of “robots” for any use.

10. Do not falsely impersonate any other person in the forum. Do not misrepresent the source of anything you say or post.

11. Do not spam other members in any way, e.g. do not email or private message members unless it relates to the forum topic.

12. While you may provide supplemental information about your own business that might be of interest to other members (without spamming them), you should not use the Discussion Forum as a vehicle to promote your business.

13. You are responsible and liable for all your activities while participating, including anything you say or post.

14. Some participants may choose to post website links in their signature. ADRSupport is not responsible for the content on the websites associated with these links.

15. You are responsible for any actions you may take based on information or advice you receive while online. Please use your own good judgment when evaluating information provided through the ADRSupport discussion forum or any other communication services. The decision to share information or conduct transactions with anyone is your own - please conduct your own research before making any decisions.

16. Please keep your posts relevant to the ideas expressed in the Forum when sharing personal experiences.

17. Refrain from “doctor bashing.” If reporting on a positive or negative experience with any medical professional, maintain a constructive posting and stick to the facts. Remember, the goal is to help the community -- not to destroy people’s reputations.

18. Conflict of interest. If you are employed in a business that relates to the member community (e.g. Medtronic, Depuy, Synthes, etc.), do not hide or obfuscate your identity to post or collect information to your employer’s advantage. We welcome participation from spine device companies, but ask for disclosure in fairness to all.

Any content that is copied, reproduced or republished without express consent, is considered to be in violation of copyright and/or intellectual property laws of the U.S. ADRSupport reserves the right to pursue legal enforcement against any member or non-member that violates these guidelines.
