I recently moved .. and now am living alone. The accumulation of "stuff" is overwhelming and my back has been hurting all along with packing and now unpacking as I am lifting quite a bit and doing things I "know" I shouldn't do but I don't have a choice at this time .. hiring someone is out of the ? since I'm bleeding $$ all over the place right now just getting things situated.

I think either I've aggravated a muscle group (probably use more of right side in lifting -dominant and stronger side of body) or hopefully not a higher discs.. I'm having this steady pretty intense pain on the right side above my ileac crest going under my ribs in the back. Feels like if the accordian was being played, that it's the squished together movement .. my back feels like it's trying to do that on that side.. and I have difficulty lifting my left leg up as in getting in and out of shower because that causes the intense pain in right side..(maybe it's just L4)...

I've had this feeling before on both left and right side but it never has gone up so high on my back...

Lying down helps if I do it for a day or two. Sitting is prohibted right now as the smashed accordian runs down the tailbone also tho I'm used to pain in the tailbone/low back...

Sure hope I'm not damaging L3 more or anything higher.. I'm trying to get myself set up so that I can choose a surgeon soon to do this surgery (probably spring of '06)..

Actually I'm quite proud of myself and the amount of stuff I can actually do~even tho it ends up hurting after a while..

Hi Mariaa,
well we all knew that this move was coming sometime. It sounds as if it's been a horrendous.

I think you're probably back to the basics of rest, heat/cold the usual basics which we all have done in the past. It sounds as if you've just aggravated things.

I hope things settle down for you, you're a very long-standing member here
Best wishes,
Alastair

Maria,

You are an amazing woman and have been through so much. Just like all of us its a matter of time and circumstances that will give us the sign that we need some surgical attention and can no longer live like this.

You have now set yourself up to be in a position to heal yourself physically as well as spiritually and emotionally. I am so happy for you even at the extent of extreme back pain.

Just like big A said go back to the basics, ice heat and rest. Any news on the doctor front let me know whats cooking.

Hi Alastair and Paulette..
Yes, back to the basics..just need to find the heat and get some ice! Just got a fridge yesterday and back is hurting too much to get anything to put in it! Even ice cube trays or frozen veggies.. So rest it is~

Just got phone service today also ~ finally.

I believe the pain on right side going much higher up than my usual pain is just muscular.

Heat...dog power.. have Lola lie up against my back, if I can get her to lie still. She's a bit put out as I cannot walk her today!

RE surgery, yes, once the place is ready, and I have "the doctor" I'm going to do it!!!

thanks for the reassuring words from you both~ Maria

Maria,

I'm not a long standing member, but I hope my wishes for you will count nonetheless.

You *so* remind me of me So, in case my impression is right, I offer you full use of my pain arsenal any time: "ice pack, heating pad, pain meds du jour ... triggerpoint, pillowtop, Great Dane for sure."

I'm an untried newbie here (so unqualified to offer specific anythings), but have been reading for weeks. I want to thank you for all you've offered to the rest of us here ... may it come back 'round to you in the way of peaceful relief!

Yeah, yeah, you shouldn't have lugged those boxes ... but I know why you did, 'cuz you had to ... and I send knowing best wishes that you'll soon be beyond this painful moment, continuing toward eventual relief.

Best,
Jenn

Jenn,
An official Welcome to the forum! Glad you're reading along and popped out here to add to my post~ thank you!

May take you up on the Great Dane! Whoohoo! What an addition that'd make to the neighborhood~

Back pain now nicely settling into low back ~ the old pain I've come to know and love/not..

More unpacking should undo that tho today tho will try to "be careful".. using good body mechanics and all that~

BTW, fusionphobic future adr(er) or so I keep saying~

take care and thanks for best wishes/back at cha~

As an antiodote to thinking, maybe I can set up a moving service for pre/post-ADR pts: "Relax - We Will Too".

Glad to hear that your feeling a little bit better. Take it easy now with the unpacking. You can do a little bit at a time and still get done. Take Care
