Hello - I am a newbie who gratefully appreciates all who have posted in the past - a great repository of information, experience an views.

Just thought I'd relay my story and solicit your thoughts:

I'm a 47 year old recently diagnosed with Cervical Spondylotic Myelopathy. Doctor at Univ. of CT recommended ACDF. But I am uncomfortable with the idea of a return operation for the issues that may result in adjacent areas.

A friend recommended Dr. Bitan in NYC who I saw last week. Dr. Bitan is recommending an ADR using ProDisc-C.

Inclined to go with Bitan based on my friends enthusiatic recommendation, reputation, his confidence and my preference for that treatment.

Anyone out there with similar issus/expriences/thoughts? I welcome and appreciate all feedback.

I would recommend going with Dr. Bitan and the ADR. I had a C5-6 fusion and within 9 months 3 other levels started to go and 2 years later required surgery. I then had ADR at those 3 levels and am very happy with them. I've heard good things about Dr. Bitan.

Lisa - thanks so much for your view!

Going back to Dr. Bitan Thursday for pre-surgery tests (EKG & EMG).

A cold day in NYC doing Medical Testing - how fun!

Best of luck in your recovery.

Folks - Just want to close this out as it looks like I am headed to surgery on 3/10 at Lenox Hill NYC w/ Dr. Bitan (1 level c5/c6 ADR w/ Prodisc-c). I'll report back in the post-surgery forum as well as insurance which is looking good!

Actually can't wait for the surgery as the pain has gotten really bad.
