Default Released today

Did well. Surgery went longer than expected. My AD had slipped out to the point of pressing on my esophagus and there was some damage to that. There was also a lot more damage around the disc than he thought.

Last night was rough, they had a hard time stabilizing my blood pressure it was running around 81/48 and my pulse was in the low 40's. So I didn't really sleep at all but this morning I was up in the 90's/60's and my pulse was in the 60's so I was able to go home.

Congratulations on getting past this. You've been through cervical surgery an unfortunate number of times previously, so you've got a very good idea of what's to come.

Did you wake up with the explanted ADR in your hand? (If mine ever have to come out, I'm going to want them back too)

Good luck, Jeff

Default Good you are doing better

Sorry you had to go through this...,

every time I hear about a failure or something going wrong with an ADR, it is a ProDisc, this is what you had, Correct?

Hopefully, you can move on now.

Jerry - yes it was ProDisc

I am hoping, this will be it. Unfortunately I do have a bulging disc C7 which is level below my first fusion. So we may have to revisit that one in the future

But thank you for the well wishes

Lauren,

Don't worry about a bulging disc (provided there are no symptoms). My surgeon told me that most adults have a bulging disc somewhere in their spine. It's just part of the normal aging process. I have a bulge at C5/C6, which is below two levels of fusion C3/C5. It's not causing any symptoms and hopefully never will. When I was considering ADR due to symptoms the result of C6/C7, 3 out 4 European surgeons recommended ADR for both C5/C6 and C6/C7 (Mr. Dare, Ritter-Lang, and Biestedt. Clavel was the only one who suggested I could wait on C5/C6, but may have to address it in the future).

I'm glad I listened to my NYC surgeon and got an endoscopic foraminotomy at C6/C7, covered 100% by insurance. I feel 1,000 times better and keep my fingers crossed that I don't ever need cervical spine surgery again. My fingers are crossed for you too!!

Gene

Lauren,

I know the ProDisc on the coffee table has got to make for some great party conversations.

Congratulations and keep on chugging along.

Jeff

Jeff - the OR nurse actually dug through 5 bags of waste from my surgery to find it LMAO

My Dr told her "I know she will want to keep that little bad boy, so lets make sure we get it for her"

LOL
