I am 44, married (blended family) with 7 children and will have two grandchildren in by November. I have just recently begun viewing this website and find that the information is extremely valuable and informative. I have moderate to severe pain and I am currently awaiting insurance approval for ADR. Dr’s office advised I would probably be denied as I have Anthem BCBS. I am not sure if this is the case or not as I am a federal employee (air traffic controller) and I have seen information that the insurance must pay if it is FDA approved. Time will tell. If the insurance will not, I intend to switch to Aetna during open season this December and hopefully will have ADR as soon as possible after that. I currently reside in recliner and have not been able to sleep lying down for 3 months. I seem to not be able to sleep until total exhaustion due to pain. I have been off work since April 2007. I really feel for the number of people with difficulties from this site.

Steve:
Welcome to this site. I have seen here where ADR is paid for because it is approved for Federal employees. I wish you luck. Like many here it sounds like you need to get your life back. Hang in there. Terry Newton

Steve, welcome to the site. Though your physical situation sounds grim, your options sound good. Do a search for "federal employee" in this forum, and you will find many helpful posts. LBP has posted some very helpful topics on this issue too.
Hope this helps.

If you are on a FEHB plan, the OPM policy should control and force your BCBS plan to cover ADR. See http://www.opm.gov/carrier/carrier_l...01/2001-27.htm You may need to submit this information/letter if for some reason you get an initial denial. Good luck
