Thanks Jeff
I am in Buffalo, NY I did contact Dr. Lauryssen and had a great response. It also looks like there may soon be another option for M6: Hi Todd, We are currently working on getting privileges abroad to do the m6. We are hoping to be able to go over in the next few months for the first cases. We have several patients who have gone abroad that we manage post op. im sure he would be happy to do so in your case as well. We can also do a phone consult and go over all your films as a second opinion if you are interested. Let me know your plans, Natalie |

My signature line is updated. Discogram tomorrow. Dr. Dare has my films and will review first week of Feb. Dr. Lauryssen has my films and will also review first week of Feb. Planning on setting up skype call with Dr. Clavel 2nd week of Feb.
3 weeks now of very manageable discomfort after a 4 week stretch of constant 4 to 6 pain. The last 3 days I have noticed that me shift has pretty much straightened out again. Minor 1 to 2 pain in lower back, 2 to 3 when doing my daily 30 min walk. No sciatica pain, just slight tingling in thigh and calf, slightly annoying and enough to let you know that everything is not right. If I do more bending or lifting pain increases and there is definitely the feeling of being more restricted to one side. It is good enough that I am asking myself the question again: live with it and keep my altered life for a while longer or get it fixed? I hope to discuss this question with the three doctors named above and ask if there are consequences from waiting.

Good luck with the discogram, it's not a party but if I can do it anybody can believe me.

No, none of them asked. One of the local neurosurgeons, not the one who scheduled me for a fusion, wanted it. He felt that it was absurd that someone scheduled me for a fusion at L4/L5 when my L5/S1 was also compromised w/out doing a discogram. I don't have official results back yet, but unless they changed the order to try to fool me my L5/S1 was more painful and more closely resembled some of the pain I have. Neither disc created the pain in my hip and buttock nor any of the slightly numb/tingling in my thigh or calf. Funny thing is that one day after discogram I am feeling better that I have in 8 weeks. Does anyone know if that makes any sense, is there any numbing effect from the fluid?

Having the discogram not reproduce symptoms exactly as you experience them normally is not uncommon - it was the case for me. I had no radial pain and no leg pain during the procedure which I did have during acute episodes. This makes sense since they only inflate the disc as a whole whereas some of the herniated disc material that is up against a nerve root might not be pushed out further at all.
