I'm crew, had my chance to get into the union, but i had to quit because of the L5-S1. I am freelance photo now, run a small business. I can't work on someone else's time, making my own schedule helps with the pain. I would have been more finically / commercially successful faster - had it not been for the back... but my work is much more interesting now so there is a trade
There is no way to crew with a lumbar injury. It would cripple you. 18 hour days is the norm just for the actors. Crew stays even longer!

I really hope you can get in to that study!

Surgery w/ Dr. Clavel, 3/18/13, M6.
Before surgery: severe spinal stenosis C5/C6 (cord "flattened" per stateside doc), + for Hoffman's & Babinsky's.
At time of surgery: 5 yrs MAX before ending up in wheelchair.
Clavel found L5-S1 partially fused. Had to cut it apart to put in M6.
Please excuse brevity - SEVERE carpel tunnel.

Dang! Five years of that is grueling enough, but with a bad back...

Oh, and I was looking for the like button too!
