Questions help please
Hello my name is Jessica i just have a few questions and i'd like like explain my story a little... I'm 24 years old and my doctors would like me to have a disc replacement surgery.
I was in a car acentdent a couple years ago a guy rear ended me he was doing about 50 mph while i was making a right hand turn doing less then 5mph. my doctors would like me to have my L5-S1 done i'm kind of scared i've never had stiches or have had to go to the hospital before so this is all new to me. I would just like to know do you think this is a good idea for me or not i'm in pain more now then i used to be so i'm really starting to wonder if it's something i should just do....Any opinion you have would be a huge help. Thank You, Jessica |

Jessica,
You will find a lot of info and opinions on this site and will have to make a decision, one that is right for you. First, you must have a pretty progressive doctor for him to advise ADR. Personally, for me, It was a good decision to have two ADRs. I thinks that you need to determine that it is definitely your disc that is causing the pain before proceeding. If it is, then ADR might be right for you. Some think that L5-S1 is a good candidate for fusion. Research this site and talk with many people who have had ADR. Get as much information as you can. For me, I was at the point where a two level fusion was not an option for me and nothing else here in the states was working. That is when I opted for ADR. Mark

Jessica, you will find a lot of information here to help you figure out if disc replacement is right for you.
Can you tell us a little more about your condition? What sorts of tests have you had done? What has the doctor told you is the reason he thinks disc replacement is what you should do? We understand your pain, and your uncertainty about what to do. We are here to lend you whatever support that we can.
