Paul, I think my cervical issues were less severe. One of my disc bulges was quite prominent on the MRI, but the worst on the report was "mild cord compression" (lateral, also impinging on a nerve root). In terms of lifestyle changes, I got a standing desk and now avoid sitting while working, started swimming multiple times a week, use an elliptical exercise bike instead of running, and do core strength exercises every few days. I do also try and avoid activities with obvious risk of falling or high impact, but am not living in paranoia.

prior to 2015: happy go lucky, no health issues
2015: left arm pain, diagnosed with two herniated discs (C5-6 and C6-7), with mild cord compression at C6-7 but no direct symptoms from that (yet?)
