Hi, I am a newbie, living in Vancouver, Wa; I had my first appt with Dr. Delamarter, San Diego, last week as I have to know about DDD in 3 discs(C5-6, L4-5, and L5-S1). Our meeting went well, I feel he's honest, yet I would greatfully appreciate any help I could recieve from folks who have been treated by him. Also, does anyone know of neurosurgeons or othopedic surgeons who are skilled in ADR surgery in Portland, Oregon? Thanks, Dorothy

Dorothy, thanks for posting. There are many of Dr. D.s patients that have posted here, but I have not heard from too many in a while.
I'll chime back in soon. In the meantime, please insert a signature into your profile (per the welcome email) about your spinal history...a few short blurbs are fine: Go > Personal Zone > Profile > View/Edit Complete profile Thanks!

Dr. D, in my opinion is the best ADR surgeon in the country. He graduated High school and College with a 4.0 gpa while playing football and operated on the King of Thailand's back last year.

Yeah -- but can he play football WHILE operating?
Kidding of course. Somehow, he managed to perform quite a number of multi-level procedures in this country. And he seems to have a back office staff that is efficient with the initial insurance appeals -- something few spine surgeons have mastered in this country. I'll be curious how he may diagnose or comment on trigeminal neurolgias...

Hi Dorothy,
I am one on Dr. D's patients. He is in Santa Monica. I had a double ADR L4-S1. I have had a very up and down recovery but I feel I received good care and can call when I have problems. I still have some sciatica and he has kept up with me and is trying to find out what is causing this at 6 months post op. I would go to him again if I needed to and his PA's always call me back. PM me for any other info. I do not know any surgeons in your area. Phylly
